Leaves

Leaves contain a mixture of pigments that give rise to green, yellow and red colours. During the warm bright days of spring and summer the green (chlorophyll), is so strong that it blocks out the others. As summer progresses into autumn chlorophyll production slows, allowing yellow and red to become dominant. Eventually, each leaf is sealed off from its tree, and they fall to the ground.
