Foxglove
(Digitalis purpurea)

Foxgloves have a significant place in the history of medicine. It had been long known for its herbal properties in treating a variety of conditions. Unfortunately its results were rather unpredictable, sometimes fatal. During the eighteenth century this initiated a closer study, and proved to be the springboard from which modern pharmacology developed, spitting away from traditional herbal medicine.
