Flesh-fly
(Sarcophega carnoaris)

Flies never seem to be favourites, being associated with dirt and disease, and flesh flies surpass most when it comes to disgusting habits. They are attracted to dead animals where females give birth to live young in the form of maggots. These are deposited on the corpse and form an important part of the decomposition cycle.

These common and widespread flies rarely venture indoors, where their appearance is usually an indication that an animal of some kind has died somewhere within the buildings’ cavities.
